Next door to Timberlake, in the brick house at 1516 was forty seven year old James E. Hudson, head of the shipping department. Hudson had started at the mill as a weaver 20 years earlier. Hudson’s father William worked in the mill as a watchman.
In 1918, the Woolen Mills purchased its first internal combustion truck to facilitate delivery of finished cloth.
Hudson had three children, two daughters and a son. He lost his wife in the 1918 flu epidemic.
