The neighborhood expanded first up the C&O railroad line that followed the ridgeline to Charlottesville. It then spread to adjacent high ground. The location kept workers safe from the floods that periodically inundated the low ground beside Moore’s Creek and the Rivanna River. - Andy Myers-
